Blake is a serial entrepreneur. He has spent the last 4-years immersed in the Whistler business community after moving there to ski in 2012. He realized shortly after arriving that in order to sustain his lifestyle, he would need to become his own boss. Not knowing where to start he turned to the community for inspiration. Being a mountain town, Whistler has a unique problem with their waste management, bears. Within this unique challenge, Blake saw opportunity. This is how 50 North was born. It started as a small residential waste management company and quickly grew to a full scale property services company serving over 300 clients.
Out of that opportunity came another one. Ride On Whistler was a boutique property management company focused on medium term seasonal rentals. Blake and his business partner Chris saw instant opportunity in this business and successfully acquired it in 2015. Blake was tasked with rejuvenating the business and increasing operational efficiency. The company grew quickly, doubling its capacity in one year. After a couple year of accelerated growth, it was time for Blake to find the next project.
Blake exited from both 50 North and Ride On Whistler in late 2017. Now, his passion is helping others. He continues to be an active member of the Whistler Blackcomb Ski Patrol which he joined in 2013. He also volunteers as an adventure sessions host for the Zero Ceiling Society of Canada. He is a leader of the Whistler Entrepreneur Alliance and is in the process of bringing a Start Up Canada community to the Sea-to-Sky corridor.
